Dr. Web-Love will see you now....

From 15:30 (after the coffee break) our session will become a practical session for those interested in learning about using social media in their work or projects.

Experts will be on hand to answer questions, give advice and help set up accounts.

Feel free to bring a laptop and come and find out best practice use of social media for your project.

Issues discussed

  • Is Google+ useful for public archaeology?
    • The consensus was that currently Google+ was not particularly useful as a broadcast platform (for which Twitter is better) nor for fostering a community (for which Facebook is better).
    • Several suggested that the Hangout feature was useful for having group meetings at a distance (a feature not provided by Skype) though every participant needs to have very fast internet.
  • How do we (and should we try to) engage an older audience through social media?
